The Flying ... donkey

Since I mentioned our brand new scooter in that previous crazy post, I thought I should introduce the little bugger to everyone... Here it is:

It's a Sym Mio 50, and it's ahhhh so cuuuute. 50cc's don't get you nowhere fast, but that's not really the point. All the reviews I found on the internetz were very favorable, and we got it for a super discount. It is a looker, and a lot of people asked me about it... Where is it made? Is it a Vespa? Is it a Vespa? Well, it's not a Vespa, not even a Vespa ripoff, it's actually a Honda ripoff. Considering this is our first scooter, I though the learning curve should involve something much less expensive and also something with little power. And speaking of which, I thought I could just strap on and go the moment it arrives. I was wrong, as it took me a little riding to get the hang of it. By now, I'm ok with riding even in medium traffic conditions, and maybe will use it sometime soon to come to work ... maybe.

Here is another pic of mio little honkey donkey ... I love it.

Baaanzaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy

Some of may notice, but that's not me in the picture. But it sure as heck felt like that yesterday, when we did the ski-jet thingie for the very first time. I have no idea what fire breathing steroid pumped monster it was packing, but it was the biggest mofo sky-jet I've seen and it was FAST. And when I say FAST, I mean it was the first time in my life I didn't have the courage to pull on that acceleration to the max, and I am a little bit of an acceleration junkie. It is quite a big jump from our 50cc scooter, so probably a learning curve should be taken into account, but damn, that thing accelerated like nothing I've ever felt before ... maybe except the Rock'n'Roller coaster which goes to 100Km/h in about 2.8 seconds pulling 4.5g's. But it felt pretty darn close ...

The biggie waves didn't help make the ride smooth, as we had some big air jumps, probably pretty close to the pic above. Andreea kept the atmosphere hot from the backseat screaming like there was no tomorrow throughout the whole thing ... coming to think of it I don't think she was the only person screaming on that ski-jet.

After getting off that satanic tool I was happy to be alive and swore to myself I would never ride such a darn thing again ... now I can't wait to get back on that crazy monster once again ...

Once again I must ask too much of you, Andreea...

Fact: Andreea fell asleep in the cinema during the last Harry Potter movies. So, after reading some opinions on the internetz that this is the most boring one of them all, I was expecting her to sleep throughout the entire sitting. I was almost wrong ... She did wake up, during the more exciting (less boring) sceneS. Yeap, there were more than one less boring scene, two to be more precise.

In order to better explain the situation I will draw a graph.

Here is how a normal movie should play out, X is time, and Y is the excitement scale.

We get some at the beginning, the movie then plays out, some excitement in the middle of the movie so that we don't fall asleep, then some more yada yada yada, and then we get the big climatic scene in the end. Simple, right?

Now here is how our old mister Potter played out ...

You can clearly spot the two less boring scenes in the graph...

I can't really classify this as a Harry Potter movie, or even as a movie. There was absolutely not climax, no FINAL SCENE, nothing ... It was boooooring as heck and, as much as I would like to, that's a fact I simply can't deny.

Guess I'll have to wait some more for that Harry Potter movie where in the end he wields the dual magic wands and blasts them away at the now defeated after a giant battle Voldemort yelling " Arava Kadavra Motherf#####%ker! "

Ready, Set, ... wait 2 months

Plane tickets to Tokyo check, Japan Visas check, we're just about ready to leave for Tokyo. Only it's gonna happen two months from now. I'm pretty pumped up about it. I even started to learn some Japanese, maybe I'll know by then how to ask "Donde est el bagno?".

Anyway, I don't think they will run out of sake and sushi by then, so I'm cool.

Idiots on a Plane II

From the mind boggling creators of Idiots on a Plane comes the brain blasting sequel, Idiots on a Plane II. This is without any doubt the BEST SEQUEL OF ALL TIME!! I saw this event when going to Zakynthos, and I must say I was blown away!! It was very much like part 1, except the idiot starts walking around when THE PLANE TAKES OFF. Just how nonexistent can one's brain be?? They'd better start taking IQ tests before handing you over that ticket.

Coming to an airplane near you soon probably ... and unfortunately.

zAkynthos

Well, long time no seen, but the new job really squeezes the juice out of me. This morning I decided enough is enough and it's about time I post this...

For the summer vacation we decided to go see this wrecked-up ship lots of people are taking pictures of and posting them in the Internetz. The place is called zAkynthos, and please say it with a full accent on the A. It wasn't paradise but it was GREAT!

zAkynthos is an absolutely beautiful island in the Ionic sea, which has just about everything for everybody. From silent and beautiful nature retreats, to noisy clubbing alcoholic teenagers, you want it, you gottit.

I, for one, prefer this:

.. but, heck, that's just me, so if you wanna club till morning, don't be bothered by this post ;).

It was a trip full of adventures. We checked out multiple beaches , took the cruise around the island, went to see the all so famous shipwreck, went to see the lovely turtles, read a couple of books, and drove not less than three distinct convertible vehicles. It was actually some kind of automotive treat for myself, but more on that later. Oh, yes, and we had a quick encounter with little Johnny over here...

Actually, more on all of that later, as it's time to get back to work. I'll leave you with some pics:

another pic of us ... and the shipwreck, of course

Andreea facing CHAOS, and YES that is a McDonalds over there

A Tooth for a Tooth ... or something like that

I like imagining how brainstorming sessions go. I like thinking at how everybody sits at that table, finding different solutions to a problem. And here was a BIG problem. How do they make the biggest blockbuster movie of the year? Where do they stand against the competition:
- Fist fights - check
- Car chases - check
- More explosions than Star Trek - check
- More Time-Space continuum screw ups than Star Trek - check
- More robots than Transformers - check
- More see through my body special effects than Wolverine - double check
- More butt than Wolverine ... ? ... guys?? More butt than Wolverine???
Eventually one of the smarter people there thought it through and the solution was inevitable, since Terminator is the master butt showing movie of all time.

Was it the highlight of the movie? I can't really deny it, but there's more than the Terminator's butt that brings salvation to the Terminator series.

Compared to the Terminator 3 joke this should win best movie of the Universe, so I cannot hate it. It was entertaining with some good action scenes and it revisits the Terminator atmosphere from the first movies, with moments when you kinda fear that Terminator guy. The editing could have been better, but all in all it was not bad.

Well ... it looks like it checks through the entire list ... best action movie of the year? Let's hope not ...

Ben Affleck is an Actor!

Yeah, now I remember where I knew this guy from ... he used to be an actor ... and apparently not a bad one.
I was utterly amazed by the fact that I didn't fall asleep while watching this movie where the Gladiator grew fat and started working as a journalist, while Ben Affleck finally decided to run for the senate. I may have gotten things mixed up a little bit, but, heck ... the storyline is mixed up and it was kinda late.

The way I see things, the story is about a guy who sleeps with another guy's wife, who happens to be his friend, but the guy thinks about another girl, who was sleeping with the guy too, but following him too, and that was because some other guy kills her because she was working for the guy, but she was actually working for another guy too. In the end, everything is turned around and the guy who did it is revealed ... geesh ... Now THAT's a story for the newspapers...

Go see 'State Of Play' ... you will not fall asleep ... I repeat, you will NOT fall asleep.

Angels & Demon

I've never really been a fan of the Davinci Code & stuff and I also didn't like the movie too much. So my expectations were obviously quite low. I was expecting a slow movie, with some uninteresting action, and a reveal that won't drop any jaws. I was pretty wrong ...
Instead, we have a well paced, with interesting characters and interesting action Lancia Delta commercial. The twist in the end is quite predictable, but that doesn't kill it. It was pretty good all in all, definitely way better that the first movie.

So many angels, but no so many demons in the movie ...

Down on the Beach

Don't start feeling sorry ... the picture above shows how the weather was when we got there early in the morning .. very soon after, it turned into this:

It was an absolutely excellent weekend. The water was a little too cold, so splashing was out of the question, but the weather was stunning, the food was great, and we even saw a movie which was a little better than I expected ...

And speaking of that ... Andreea discovered our symbol engraved in the sand of the beach most probably by a secret underground ancient society...
Quickly, call Robert Langdon! Maybe he can spot Andreea in one of the photos...
