2015 was a great year for me ... a really great year ... though it started in pure chaos, with the batcave and all. There was in fact such a big difference between how 2015 started and how it ended that I decided to give my first two awards as follows:

Luigi

Say hello to Luigi! Our new friend and guardian, he is just ... well ... The Best! He has become the center of our universe halfway through 2015 and has been ruling our existence with a velvet fist ever since. He is a kind and gentle ruler and allows us to sleep all the way up to 6:30 AM every day... Thank you, merciful Luigi!

Madeira

From what I've heard before going, Madeira was supposed to be this place where old people who've had about enough of life go to watch the sea or something ... I can happily report that this is quite far from the truth. Not only are there tons of cool young people all around the place, there's a ton of different things to do. The food was incredibly yummy, the poncha delicious (and crazy cheap) and the scenery breathtaking.

I know ... there's not enough Luigi and a bit too much Madeira in the photo...

And so we get to:

Luigi tried his best, but the waves were just too much for Colombo's ship to handle. A three hour trip by boat around the south side of the island was enough to make us dizzy for the rest of the day ... at some point later in the evening the poncha kicked in and solved everything... which brings us to...

It is delicious, and in case you don't know what this poncha I keep mentioning looks like, here is a photo:

And something else happened in 2015... we finally got a 4th Star Wars movie ... I know, there's allegedly 7 of them, but let's be honest, the prequels were a complete disaster we can forget about. I can only thank lord Disney for rescuing us from more of that... So, yes, here it is:

There's so much fan pleasing material in there I don't even know where to start, so I will not. I'll just say that it is a wonderful film that revisits all the old things I loved while adding new things that I absolutely love. I cannot wait to see where they take it next.

I saw it only twice ... a problem I need to tend to as soon as possible. The IMAX 3D is definitely worth a look.

And one more thing ... you know comic book movies are all the rage these days ... which is why I want to give a special award to the best comic book ... kinda movie thing ...

Netfilx' Daredevil

It's hard to estimate just how much better Daredevil is than ... say ... Avengers Age of Ultron, but I decided to still try. And according to my calculations, it is around 1 trillion time better ... give or take a few millions. If you have any kind of interest for comic books, this is THE show to watch. (Not to be confused with Netflix' Jessica Jones, which I did not particularly enjoy)

So yeah, everything was actually pretty great last year ... except maybe Specter ... that movie sucked bad... so here goes our last award:

A new days begins.

A new day for my blog, that is. Since it was covered in darkness in the past 3&1/2 months, get it? .... No? Well, anyway, say hello to a new day, as experienced from a balloon, high above the desert, nearby Dubai.

Even though my eyes have been graced upon by the magnificence of the most perfect sunset in the world universe, I always felt that chance may touch me once again and shine a warm beacon of beautiful sunlight upon my eyes. Of course, nothing beats the most perfect sunset ... except every other sunset in the world. But I can't think of too many things that would come even close to this ...

Scullder's Awards - Worst of 2013

Well, Happy New Year over there! 2014 has made its way into the world and what better way to celebrate than to look back at what was definitely not the best year ever.

Yep, you knew this was coming... the 2013 awards are here!!

Yep, for real!

And we kick it off with this year's Worst of categories:
- 2013 Most Pathetic Operating System invented by Man
- 2013 Worst Drivers of the Year
- 2013 Worst Trips of the Year
- 2013 Worst Movie of the Year

North by Northwest

It's March and the wind is blowing on the vast field of empty space called my blogging for this year. It is probably a very relevant indicator of the chaos that has barged into my happy cosy life. But, through all the chaos, and from the ashes, a blog will rise! And it starts now, with Iceland... or, actually, it starts with London ...

Heeeey, hold on a second ... I said London, not China!

Oook, that's better. So, as I was saying, it actually started in London, as we did a quick pit-stop before heading out to our very promising destination. So, things we did in London besides Chinatown: drank a ton of coffee,  went through the parks, visited a very non-cultural museum and saw an (exhausting) movie from a very comfy couch.

Unfortunately, the queen was too busy ... again ... So we decided to pack our things and continue our journey North, where a new dawn was waiting ...

but more on that later ...

Slacking in the Lobby

It was half past eight and I was slacking away in the hotel lobby waiting for my taxi. The past month I've seen many lobbies... too many for my taste... But the one I was sitting in was a bit special. Unlike my hotel room at that time, it was not a dump, which was great ... a small claustrofobic dump it was, my room.

I hate business travelling a lot right now, and I have a special thought of appreciation for whoever booked me this fine hotel on the edge of Copenhagen...

I wish I was off skiing somewhere... but even more I simply wish to get back home.

I should be there in a couple of hours...

Worst Trip 2012

I have recently realized that I've never given this prestigious award before, and it's not fair... For where there is a winner there must surely be somone at the opposite end to call a loser. And if the excitement of this year's best trip was something to remember, then so is this...

A Sink ... A Lamp

A lamp or a sink? An almost Shakespearean question... what would you expect above your nightstand and would it really make a difference? Ask yourself this for the answer may prove to be more elusive than you might think. Or at least so it was for a hotel manager that was very confused when we complained that we found one instead of the other above our nightstand and asked us what is the difference as you are usually asleep in the hotel room ... At this point I got really pissed and started shouting... Thinking back on it now, I am ashamed.... she did have a very good point ... what does it matter while you are sleeping, your eyes are closed, right?

We ended up not paying for the room so I guess I should recommend this hotel (but shame on me, I'm not going to). In our case it was a sink instead of a lamp, but I guess you can complain either way and not pay in the end ... after all, a sink ... a lamp ... what's the difference?

8 in Madrid

Last week, a very special anniversary took place. We celebrated our 8th year of marriage and we decided a proper party is in order ... so we went to Madrid.

We started on Friday evening with tapas, an incredible amount of sangria and what I can only qualify as the best live show I've ever seen in my life. This is the place: http://www.lastablasmadrid.com/ . We were lucky enough to have an incredible singer and an incredibly amazing dancer that don't come all the time. It was really jaw-dropping, the guy was tapping his feet faster than I could follow. It is really something that must be experienced live and which I recommend to absolutely everyone.

Back to the party outside ... it was midnight and 27 degrees outside ... coming from 15 it was quite a change for the better.

The next day there was delicious food, more sangria and more delicious food ....

We went for dinner to this really incredible place. I'm not really sure if the chef was a cook ... or a freaking magician!?! This is the place: http://lieu.es/ I highly recommend it.

The next day started with a breakfast that was as tasty as it was most probably not very healthy for my cholesterol .. more sangria followed ... and even more delicious food ...

... oh ... and some desert ....

... shopping was inevitable ... and quite successful...

... and SUN SUN SUN all day looong ... and perfect weather in the evening.

Did you notice that 8 is the closest number to infinity? 8 has just passed.... infinity follows ...

Missing Bangkok

I don't know why ... I suddenly feel an urge to go back to Bangkok ... probably because it's the middle of July, and 12 *twelve* freaking degrees outside ... celsius ... I mean, bangkok was so SO amazingly cool. The food, the people, the places ... really amazing.

From fancy restaurants to street food and eating on the side of the canal from a lady who looks like she really knows her soup.

The crazy tuk-tuks, the PINK taxis, the energy in the air, the crazy party pink street next to our hotel ... and the sky bar sitting on top of everything ...

I even miss shopping ... shopping!! I hate shopping, but I would do it right now ... only not here.

I don't know why, but today I miss Bangkok ... so here's to you, my friend, may we meet again ...
