Raining in the Garden

Well ... following a tidal wave of requests to make the mustache happen, I decided to give it a try. At one point, though, A. gave me the choice of either doing something about it or sleeping in the garden. It was raining outside, so I decided my mustache was way to cool to come with me to Mexico.

So, here it is ... it's the best I could do... we've been together only for a very brief moment ...

Before or after? A mustache dilemma ...

I have a theory that when visiting unfamiliar places you need to experience the local flavors, try out the real deal, do as the Romans do ... when in Rome, that is. So, with all this in mind, I have decided that there is no better way to do as the Mexicans do than grow a mustache for our upcoming trip to Mexico.
However, as I've never grown a Mexican mustache before, I am not sure if I should do it before going or while there... I need YOUR help ...

It's a Bird ... It's a Plane ...

No, really ... it's a plane ... not an UFO ... a plane ... why a plane? Let's back up a little bit ...

It starts with the plane inspection ... and then ... off to the runway ...

KA-POW! who's the pilot? ... no really ... check out who's the pilot ... it is my brave love ready to take over your airspace !! Take off and landing went PERFECTLY!

She really loved it and I hope she will do it again ... as long as she comes back down safely.

The Revenge of the Silent Film

Last night we went to see The Artist, and I must admit I was completely blown away by it. This very fine piece of art exceeded my expectations in every way and punches a big hard fist right in the face of all "talkies" that drove the silent film to its demise.

Now that the novelty of talking movies is gone, could silent movies make an incredible comeback? Probably not, as The Artist is not so good only because it is silent. But still, I really hope that there will be more attempts at it ... and possibly more accomplishments like The Artist. Loved it!

My (Incredible) Five Minutes of Fame

Sooo ... last weekend we went to Strasbourg to see the Cirque du Soleil. If you don't know what that is, shame on you, it is one of the best live performances in the world. And, since a picture is worth more than my blabber, the story goes like this:

... about 45 minutes and one million applause later around the parking lot ... famous metro-sexual guy is quite famous ...

Later in the night around town, some people giggle and point at the famous metro-sexual guy and he starts wondering if he will ever be able to go back to non-famous life ...

Even later in the night ... no-longer-metro-sexual guy dressed in pijamas goes silently to sleep next to the no-longer-native woman ... he knows his 5 minutes of fame are up ... it was quite nice ... amazing paparazzo is nowhere in sight to take a photo ...

P.P.S. yes, the show war really really amazing ... and not only because I got on stage ...

Hungry Kids

Sooo .... Hunger Games ... the first real blockbuster of the year ... without giving away too many spoilers (or at least not more than in the pic above), the movie was quite OK. I was expecting maybe a bit more, but in the end it turned out to be a balanced movie about children killing each other in the forest.

And speaking of balance, I don't know what the guys holding the cameras were smoking but I came out with a dizzy head ... suddenly, I didn't feel hungry any more ...


... get it? hungry? ... myeah, I probably should get back to work ...

Two Hundred and Fifty Million Dollar$$$

I don't know if you've heard about this already... looks like Disney blew two hundred and fifty million dollars on a movie and forgot to spend some on marketing. Yes, there is a movie out called John Carter which cost two hundred and fifty million dollars to make ... and you've probably never heard of it ...

And, if you've somehow by some chance heard of it ... maybe seen the trailer  ... you probably went like ... John Carter ... hmmm ... John Carter ... Who the heck is John Carter ? .... and why is he fighting giant polar bears in the desert ?? The movie is in no way a master piece, but it's not that bad either ... So maybe if you knew that he is some kind of war hero that gets teleported somehow to freakin' MARS or if they just kept the original title John Carter OF (freakin') MARS it would have made more sense and have more appeal ...

But it doesn't .... and there go two hundred and fifty million dollars ... quite a shame ...

Not so Safe House

I saw Safe House and it was really quite good ... it goes a little bit something like this ...

I'm not sure what makes this such a good movie. The story is inevitably predictable and I'm guessing it's not Reynolds, because he's last movie ended up as a big pile of stinky pooh. So, it has to be Denzel, right? ... he  really is tha man ... 

Actually, what happens is that Denzel is great (as usual or even better), but Reynolds really gets his s#it together and puts up one of his best performances, and the story is ...well ... decent ... kaboom! good movie!

Or maybe it was the Terminator ... yeah ... he dies pretty quickly though ... you're gettin' too old for this s#it, man...

Say Hello to My Little Friend

It is ... incredibly amazing ... an incredibly amazing monster powerhouse ... a very user friendly monster powerhouse ... but more on that later ... don't have time to blog now ... got a millennium falcon to assemble!

A few days ago, I happily managed to reach the age of 32 ... so, naturally my friends decided to buy me a ... STAR WARS LEGO isn't that FREAKINGAWESOME!!??????

And,yes, I was wearing that exact amazing Star Wars T-shirt when I got the present. Millennium Falcon YAAAAA!!! But, back to the lego .... We started working on it straight away of course ...

I know what you're thinking ... Vader didn't fight Obiwan INSIDE the Falcon ... and you're right ... but back to the lego ... that stuff just looks like easy peasy ... just put some bricks on top of each other and the thing is there ... well ... thing again, my friends ... think again ....

There's stuff going on in there you'd never dream about ... like for example this next picture here:

See this completely MOBILE arm up there? Well ... it clicks into place on the other side to form a fully IMMOBILE structure, in this case one quarter of the ships' shell ...

... and there are so many other flexible structural elements that merge together into a solid structure ... really amazing stuff ... And YES, that is Darth Vader on top of the (ongoing) Millennium Falcon, just how FREAKINGAMAZING is that ??!!????

As you can see, the emperor would be very much displeased with our apparent lack of progress ... but what can we do? We'll double our efforts ...

You're probably now thinking ... hold on for a second there, mister. You've just turned 32 and you got a ... LEGO? Well, in fact, I will receive another present that is ... much more mature ... much more mature indeed ... and it should be arriving tomorrow, which would be so TOTALLY FREAKINGAWESOME!!!
